Neeraj Chopra's Historic 89.45m Throw Wins Silver at Paris Olympics

Neeraj Chopra secured a historic silver medal in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a throw of 89.45m, making him the second Indian male athlete to win two Olympic medals. Despite a shaky start and a foul on his first attempt, Chopra bounced back with a season-best throw, holding onto second place throughout the competition.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem claimed gold with a record-breaking 92.97m throw, setting an Olympic mark and crossing the 90m threshold twice. Chopra's throw was the only valid one in the final, with his remaining attempts all fouled. This achievement adds to Chopra’s legacy, ensuring India’s first silver medal at the Paris Games. The Indian men's hockey team also won a bronze, raising India’s total medal tally to 5, including 1 silver and 4 bronze.
