Two Indian nationals, recruited by the Russian army, have been killed in the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to India's foreign ministry. The ministry has urged Russian authorities to repatriate their bodies and return all Indian nationals currently serving with Russian forces.
Many Indians, as well as nationals from other countries, have reportedly been deceived by agents promising jobs or education in Russia, only to be coerced into fighting for the Russian military. India's foreign ministry has cautioned its citizens against seeking employment opportunities in Russia. India has not condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine but advocates for peace through dialogue. Meanwhile, other countries, including Nepal and Sri Lanka, have warned their citizens about the risks of being recruited as mercenaries.
