Blast at Rameshwaram Café in Bengaluru Injures 8, Authorities Investigate Suspected IED

At least eight people were injured in a suspected bomb explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru, India, on March 1, 2024. The blast occurred around 1:00 p.m. during the lunch hour, when the cafe was crowded with office workers. Authorities suspect the device was a home-made improvised explosive device (IED), though it was not a large explosion. The injured were hospitalized, but none were in critical condition.

According to the cafe's co-founder, two explosions occurred within seconds in the area where customers wash their hands, and CCTV footage has been provided to the police for investigation. Mobile videos from the scene showed a cloud of smoke and chaos, with some injured individuals being assisted by staff. Authorities are looking into the cause of the blast, which has caused concern in the city.
