Davinder Singh, a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer, has been dismissed from service after being arrested in a terrorism case. He was caught by the J&K Police in January 2020, while transporting terrorists from the banned Hizbul Mujahideen group. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case and filed charges against Singh, accusing him of aiding terrorists.
Singh, who was working in a sensitive anti-hijacking unit, allegedly communicated with his handlers at the Pakistan High Commission and supported Hizbul Mujahideen. The NIA chargesheet claims he was tasked with espionage activities and provided shelter and assistance to terrorists. Singh’s dismissal was ordered by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha under Article 311, which allows immediate removal without an inquiry. The dismissal decision can only be challenged in court.
Singh's arrest came after the police intercepted a vehicle carrying him and several militants. The vehicle contained firearms and explosives, and Singh was accused of moving the terrorists and helping them acquire weapons for terrorist activities. The NIA is investigating Singh's involvement with the Pakistan-based group and his role in aiding terrorist activities.
