On November 29, 2018, thousands of farmers gathered at Delhi's historic Ramlila Maidan for a two-day protest, demanding debt relief and better prices for their crops. The farmers, backed by Leftist groups and various farmer organizations, voiced their anger with slogans like "Ayodhya nahin, karz maafi chahiye" ("Not Ayodhya, we need debt relief").
The farmers, who had traveled long distances, braved the cold winter night, chanting "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" well past midnight. Volunteers offered tea to help them cope with the freezing temperatures, and over 25 doctors provided medical aid.
The protestors plan to march toward Parliament on November 30 to send a strong message to the government. Police have increased security, deploying over 3,500 personnel to manage the situation. This protest follows a similar one on October 2, which had been met with water cannons and tear gas.
