Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP party has won a historic victory in Assam, securing 60 out of 126 seats in the state's assembly elections. This triumph is significant as Assam has been governed by Congress since 2001. The BJP's alliance with local parties focused on tribal rights and opposition to illegal migration played a key role in their success. In contrast, the Congress party won only 25 seats and was defeated in other states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal, although it managed to win in the Union Territory of Pondicherry. This victory comes after the BJP's setbacks in regional elections in Delhi and Bihar.
