Kolkata Knight Riders Win First IPL Title

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched their maiden IPL title on May 27, 2012, defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets in an exciting final at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing a target of 191, KKR's Manvinder Bisla shone with a brilliant 89 off 48 balls, earning him the Man of the Match award.

CSK had set a strong total of 190, thanks to Suresh Raina's 73 and solid contributions from Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay. KKR's chase got off to a shaky start with Gautam Gambhir's early dismissal, but Bisla and Jacques Kallis (69) turned the game around with a strong partnership.

The match ended dramatically as Manoj Tiwari hit consecutive boundaries to seal the victory for KKR. Sunil Narine, with 24 wickets in the season, won the Golden Player award, and Kings XI Punjab's Mandeep Singh was named Rising Star of the League. Team owner Shah Rukh Khan celebrated the win, capping off a memorable season for KKR.

Coast Guard Helicopter Crashes in Gujarat, 3 Dead

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday when an Indian Coast Guard Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv crashed during a routine training mission in Porbandar, Gujarat. The crash, which took place at the Coast Guard Air Enclave, claimed the lives of three crew members, including the two pilots. According to officials, the helicopter experienced technical difficulties at around 12:10 pm, leading to the crash. All three crew members were initially rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but despite efforts, they succumbed to their injuries. Two were declared dead upon arrival, while the third died later. The crash, which occurred near the runway, caused a fire that was quickly contained by emergency services. The incident follows recent upgrades to the ALH fleet, which were intended to address previous safety concerns. The Indian Coast Guard is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
